Presented by the Académie
Sunday, June 15th at Cabaret Lion d’or
Guitarist Dominique Soulard, singer José Lumbreras El Chele and percussionist Miguel Medina accompanied over 30 dancers from the Academy in 2014’s celebration of the art and passion of flamenco.
The twisting streets of Seville take you from purple shadows to dizzying sunlight. The Torre de Oro, the Barrio Santa Cruz and the Cathedral of Seville recall the city’s splendid and diverse history. Mosaico Flamenco traces the origins and influences of flamenco; dances of India from where the gypsies migrated, cante (song) coloured by Sephardic Jewish prayer, music that echoes Arab-Andalusian melodies, and the city’s beloved Sevillanas that harkens back to the folk music of 15th century Spain.
